In these prolonged seconds
of searing suffering--
in the hour of agony--
The question why? pounds upon me
like fists with thick fingers
In the midst of this madness
I remember that momentary light affliction
works the weight of great glory
when at last completed
I pause and ponder the cross
deciding despite my dread
to press forward without understanding
to dare to see the dream following darkness
to burst blindly forth, solely dependant on faith
to rediscover beginnings--
the absolute alpha--
the resurrection of hope
reflected in this hurting
